HEAVEN ON A PLATE. 

There are two major phases in life when you truly understand the value of a simple, delicious, and healthy plate of food.

The first is when you’re starving and finally get to eat it—cooked lovingly at home by the outstanding chef that is a family member. It feels like heaven on a plate.

The second is when you have to cook it yourself—while juggling work, responsibilities, and emotions all at once. In that moment, this once-simple meal becomes something far more significant.

The only difference?

The first time, you were just craving it.

The second time, you find yourself crying—not out of hunger, but from the weight of managing everything, and realizing it's no longer just about satisfying a craving, but about surviving through the chaos.

I remember the first time I had to cook food all by myself—it was complete chaos.

It was during the COVID days, and I was stuck managing both my 12th board exams and the starvation of my entire family, all at once. Everyone at home was struggling with health issues, and there I was—figuring out recipes from YouTube, one dish at a time.


That was the first time I truly realised how this so-called “simple plate of food” wasn’t so simple after all—especially when you have to feed an entire family that’s already going through so much.

And that’s when it hit me:

“Khaana banane se pehle sabziyaan bhi kharidni hoti hain…”


You have to think about tomorrow’s meal today itself—get the vegetables in the evening if you want to cook in the morning. It was a whole hustle.

But that experience gave me something deeper—a new sense of respect and understanding for how significant this simple, healthy plate really is.
